Indian basil, tulsi
Indian basil lat. Ocimum tenuiflorum, also called Tulsi, king basil or holy basil, grows in tropical regions of Asia and North Australia and is traditionally used as a remedy, spice and tea. The basil is rich in polyphenols, flavonoids, essential oil, vitamins A and C and has great antioxidant potential.
The Indian basil has antibacterial, antiviral, anti-fungal (candida) and worms, as well as antibiotic-resistant bacteria such as the dangerous Staphylococcus aureus. In case of a cold, it reduces fever, has an expectorant effect on respiratory tract infections, asthma, bronchitis, cough. It helps with congested paranasal sinuses as a result of inflammation. It relieves pain, has anti-inflammatory and anti-rheumatic thanks u. a. the essential oil Eugenol and Methyleugenol.
It has been demonstrated in the scientific studies, an anti-stress and angstreduzierende effect. Tulsi increases physical and mental stamina and performance. The royal basil reduces stress-related high blood pressure and helps to fall asleep.
